Friends, Malaysia Fest is back. For more information, click here. This year Mfest is going to be awesome, no kidding. One thing we are looking forward to is the performances, of course. Word has it that ADIL, our Ratu Gelek is going to sing us some songs. Now, who would want to miss that, right? Not only that, Reza Salleh, One Buck Short, Rashdan Harith and Liyana from Estrella will also be there. Google them up if you never heard of them (Where have you been man? In the cave? LOL. Kidding). And yes, yes, not forgetting the food. I heard the stalls are all packed so I'm guessing there will be all different types of food there. Fuh! OK, enough of me ranting. The point is now: I'll see you there?

I'm sure u'll agree with me that tiramisu is one of the best cake u can eat on this planet. Literally translated tiramisu means "pick me up" or "carry me up", which probably refers to the jolt you get after eating espresso and cream laced spongefingers.
I've always thought tiramisu was made in a special way and its very tideous. Boy, i was wrong. its totally EF (easy n fast) n its a heaven in your mouth.

Here's the simplified recipe:

Ingredients :
2 cups strong black coffee
1/2 cup *orange juice* to replace wine
3 0r 4 eggs, separated
1/3 cup caster sugar
250g mascarpone cheese
200 - 300ml thickened cream (lightly whipped it )
1 large packet of sponge fingers (savoiardi)
cocoa, for dusting

1) Beat eggyolks and caster sugar in a bowl with electric beaters until pale and thick. Add mascarpone and whipped thickened cream .mix it gently until just combined (don't use electric beaters). Refrigerate it

2) In another bowl, beat eggwhites with electric beaters until soft peaks form. Using a large
metal spoon, gently fold eggwhites into the mascarpone mixture.

3) Pour the black cofee and orange juice in a bowl. Dip the sponge biscuits *quickly so as to not
over-sog* into the coffee mixture. Then, place the biscuits to cover the base of a square baking pan. Cover the biscuits with one-third of the mascarpone mixture. Repeat layers 2-3
times (depending on how thick u want it), ending with the cream.

*For better result, refrigerate the 1st layer for while so that it is not too soft, before adding
the 2nd n 3rd layers*

4) That's it!! Just cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours. See..its easy, u
don't have to bake it. Lastly, dust generously with cocoa and its ready to be on ur mouth..

I made it yesterday for bukak puase. dgn xsabarnye after terawih trus mkn. i thought it did not work coz it was quite cair but the taste is perfect. i put it bck in the fridge. n walaa..today the cream has thickened n its definitely taste n look like tiramisu. So, its better to refrigerate it for a day..

Since its yummy n the rest of naomi+hani likes it, im gonna do it again this weekend. this time..more biscuits and keep it longer in the fridge

*If u prefer it to be cheesy, just use 200ml thickened cream and add a bit more cheese*

Despite looking like a glob of puffy mud, scones are incredibly yummy. Mr Wiki said, scone is a British snack of Scottish origin. I don't know about that, but what i do know is that they remind me of gold class and a very dear friend. When i first decided to make one my own, i googled, and found lots and lots of recipes, all rated as excellent. I don't know which one to choose since there are many types of scones, ranging from sweet to savoury. I end up choosing the basic ones, since i'm a first timer. Besides, a fashion guru once said u can never go wrong with classic ( I guess it's applicable here :P ). British scones frequently include raisins, cheese or dates. In the United States, scones sold by coffee shops often include fillings such as berries, nuts and choc chips . U can even fill them with smarties and oreos if the mentioned fillings all sounds grandma-ish to u. We had our scones with strawberry sauce,whipped cream and also ice cream. They tasted quite good i guess. But the ones i had at gold class was waaay better and softer. Here's the recipe:

Ingredients

3 cups self-raising flour
80g butter, cubed
1 to 1 1/4 cups milk
jam and whipped cream, to serve

Method

Preheat oven to 200°C. Sift self-raising flour into a large bowl.
Using your fingertips, rub butter into flour until mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Add 1 cup of milk. Mix until mixture forms a soft dough, adding more milk if required. Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently until smooth. (i guess this is where i went wrong)
Pat and press dough together and cut out remaining 4 rounds. Place scones onto prepared baking tray.Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden and well risen. Serve warm with jam and cream. ( n ice cream!!!)

The instructions were easy, but i swear i won't make them ever again cause i can't stand the stickiness of the dough. (The dough was soOo sticky, i had to use my hands, so whoever eats it has no choice, but to love me forever! This explains the title haha). In the end, this is how they're SUPPOSED to look like. ( I know the scones i made were ugly, blame the oven! I had to re-switch it on many times, i almost fry my scones. Thank God it's Ramadhan. I keep on chanting the words 'be patient, be patient', i can't help feeling proud to see them on a plate in the end).

Now it's time for Pavlovas!!

Cupcakes are soOo last year, get over them! if u're living in Australia and New Zealand and u hvn't tried Pavlovas, well, u better run to the nearest bakery NOW. The Aussies and Kiwis both claimed the dessert originated from their country, and til now they hvn't decided on the inventor. But one thing we all know for sure, the dessert is neither named after an Australian, nor a New Zealander. But it is named after a Russian instead! (isn't that just obvious?)

The meringue dessert is named after a gorgeous Ballet dancer; Anna Pavlova to honour her legendary tour to Australasia. During the late 19th century, the adults don't send their daughters to ballet classes because such dance is just rare. Most people never heard of it.But this lady here changed it all by traveling around the world to bring ballet to those who never seen it.

So back to our Pavlovas story, to cut things short, i just made them today and it's really easy. All u need is:

Ingredients

2 egg whites
1/2 cup (110g) caster sugar
300ml thickened cream, whipped

Method

Preheat oven to 150°C. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper. Place egg whites into a clean bowl. Beat with electric beaters until soft peaks form. Gradually add caster sugar, beating well between each addition. Beat until mixture is thick and glossy.

Spoon heaped teaspoonfuls of the mixture onto baking trays. Flatten meringue into a disc. Bake for 20 minutes or until crisp. Cool completely in the oven with the door ajar.
Put it in the fridge.Top meringue with cream, and decorate with fruit and yummy toppings.

Serves 6!!and it only took 30mins to do it!! we're gonna have it with vanilla custard today since Moon is not a big fan of whipped cream. Serve it with any toppings u like, it's really up to u. With that, i'm wishing everyone Selamat Berbuka Puasa ;)

Rabu, 23 April: Ketika pelajar-pelajar Biochemistry sesi makmal Rabu pagi sedang khusyuk mendengar arahan dari Dr. Rebecca LeBard, alat penggera kecemasan berbunyi. Pada mulanya, diingatkan alat penggera kecemasan tersebut mempunya masalah teknikal. Namun, selang beberapa minit kemudian, kedengaran satu pengumuman yang mengarahkan semua orang untuk beredar dari bangunan Biological Sciences dan Wallace Wurth. Dengan keadaan cemas, semua orang mula bergerak keluar dari bangunan-bangunan tersebut ke kawasan yang lebih lapang iaitu di kawasan letak tempat kereta di belakang Samuels Building. Pelajar-pelajar yang di dalam makmal Biochemistry mula berasa cemas dan terus meluru ke pintu bersama barang masing-masing. Kerana terlalu cemas, mereka terus meluru keluar sehingga terlupa membuka kot makmal mereka. Berikut adalah gambar-gambar yang sempat ditangkap ketika kejadian berlaku;

Pada mulanya, Ismah dan rakan-rakannya berasa sudah selamat berteduh di bawah pokok di luar Bioscience Building. Namun, ada beberapa lelaki tua masih menyuruh mereka ke tempat letak kereta sana. Nabila terus berkata, "Jomlah korang. Aku taknak mati cepat. Aku nak hidup lagi." Mendengar ayat tersebut, mereka terus bergegas mengikuti kumpulan yang sedang melarikan diri juga.

Ketika sedang asyik melarikan diri, seorang pelajar bernama Arisha Sahrudin tiba-tiba bersuara. Dia berkata, "Eh korang, bukak la lab coat korang. Lab coat tu contaminated, nanti korang contaminated. Korang contaminate orang, orang pun contaminate korang." Rakan-rakan Arisha mula menyedari fakta tersebut dan terus melucut kot makmal mereka.

Sedang mereka berjalan ke tempat letak kereta tersebut, Nabila masih tertanya-tanya apakah puncanya alat penggera tersebut berbunyi. Dia pun menyatakan pendapatnya, "Aku rasalah kan, ni mesti ada benda beracun yang bocor ni. Sebab tu dia bunyi."

Setelah hampir 10 minit berada di kawasan tempat letak kereta itu dan 30 minit selepas alat penggera bunyi, barulah meraka tahu bawah pihak universiti sedang menjalankan cubaan alat penggera kecemasan di bangunan-bangunan tersebut. Dan sebenarnya, mereka-mereka ini sudah termalu sendiri. Haha.

We just got back from Port Stephens,Newcastle and it was super duper fun .*seriouss tak tipu*.we really enjoyed our day to the max and the whole trip was a blast! Basically, what we did are sailing out on the beautiful, blue, clear waters of port Stephens and the highlight is when we got to see the wild n beautiful animals “bottlenose dolphins” up close in their natural environment. Woooohoooooooo!We were sooo jakun when we first saw the dolphins came out from the water. Dah la, all the dolphins were soo romantic pulak tu because they always swims together gether with their partner kan. so jakun^40. Then, we also got to feel the thrill of sliding down”Sahara-like”dunes. This is actually un-sangka-rable bcoz at first it was raining and Den (tourist guide) say that we might not be able to go to the sand dunes as the sand must be wet n lost of grip for sand sliding etc2. But then suddenly, on our way back he changed his mind and yeaaaahhh we went there. So ape lagi take lots and lots of piccies seperti biase ‘camwhoring everyone’. Not to forget, we also went to the Gan Gan Lookout where we saw amazing views overlooking Port Stephens from the mountains to the sea and endless beaches. Overall, it was awesome!
Okay enough rambling; take a look at the piccies!

What kind of food are you?

Every wednesday, all the 5 of us will go back home together since everyone finishes class at 6. In the car today, while we're waiting for the engine to heat up, someone suddenly popped up a question which sounds like, " if u're a food, what food will u be?" of course we're not allowed to choose the food we like for ourselves so we choose for other ppl instead.Food which symbolizes their character.. we had fun 'fooding' everyone up n the results of the discussions are:

Nadee: At first we think she's gonna be hard-boiled egg, hard on the outside, n very soft at the inside. But then we improvise it n choose Eclaires instead. U know Eclaires sweets, they r hard on the outside n the caramel is soft in the inside. Nadee is sweet too, so Eclaires suits her best.

Adil: Adil is definitely a lady's finger! She's the most lady-like n SEGG of us all haha.. The best in cooking n dancing undeniably..n currently the best "basketball" player. (The last one doesn't sounds very lady-like to u, but to all of usss, yesssssss :P )

Odd: We think Apple symbolizes Odd best. She can be extra sweet n juicy (think, gossips) most of the time, but sour at times (if u're unlucky haha).

Moon: Moon is Fig jelly. She never panics. She typically seems to be rather calm and laidback person, so u get the picture. Jelly=Moon.

Ismah: Ismah is definitely Capsicum. Capsicum can be either green or red. If we hadn't known her better, we'd think she's the red one. But as we get to know her, she's always very greeeeen... u get what i mean?

Ayu: Ayu has this amazing ability to mix around with just about everyone, so Grapes symbolizes her best. Everyone likes grapes, even kids (think ribena), even old ppl (think seedless grapes)..

Nabila: Nabila is very Prune in many ways. haha..u hardly sees her around, even if u come to her house. She's always in front of her laptop, doing her own work, but hey, prune is always a healthier option right? Look at the bright side!

Rozen: Rozen is Barley. Sejuk hati tengok Rozen kan?

Arisha: Arisha is very Peppery. She is very discipline and strict...n she spice things up.

Yalis: Yalis is Ginger sebab banyak angin Nadee kata haha. She's older, that's for sure but she looks waay younger. She know 'good courts', very experienced and can be quite pedas at times kan K.Ellis kn? Tapi pedas Yalis tak terasa langsung, sebab tu tak letak dia cili.

Hawa: Hawa says she's like Truffles. Expensive, strong and distinctive. Ye la tu kan hawa! Hawa decides for the rest of the Barkers girls, so here's what she thinks:

Sheera: gula2 Hi Sour!! Mula2 masam, lepas lama2 jadi manis haha..kan kan?

May: Yoghurt!!! She's yummy, healthy and boleh jadi masam jugak.

Yus: Yus is mushroom soup. He's calm, not readable. U can't read his mind, but he can read yours. (nmpk calm from the outside, but u dunno what's boiling inside hahahaha)

Joe: Durian. sbb die garang. Haha..Tp isi dia manis sbb Joe kan kadang2 sweet jugak (kadang2 die mcm blush2 bila ckp psl u-know-who, tp xdela food yg malu2).

Ameen: Sushi. Not only because he eats them every day, but Ameen is always presentable. Like sushi. Complete dgn wasabi n soy sauce,proteins n carbs. Spend 10 mins with Ameen n u'll know what i mean.

Presenting….Lightning team…Adil, Ismah and Fifi! Yeay…Lightning, lightning, gooo lightning! Well, I must say that I was hoping to hear "the winner of this year explore race is the lightning team!” Unfortunately for us, we were not lucky enough. The fact that we were the first team to arrive at the finish line was not enough to make us as the winner. Even so, we did had fun. I did enjoy the race, the pancit running, the langgar traffic lights, the monkey action, the gelek bollywood in front of others, eating vegemite? and the thrill of searching for clues and checkpoints. Macam org gile kot! Credit to Fifi la. He was the one that made Ismah and I ran all the way to the finish line. Not to forget our cool drivers Kak Hani and Kak Marlina even though byk kali kite kena hon. Hahaha…Thanks to both of you! The question that made us lost the game is how much is the Sydney Tower’s entrance ticket for a family package for 2 adults and 2 children. We confidently answered that $116. The actual answer is $62. So to those people who haven’t been to Sydney Tower feel free to go there with your family for $62 only. If you guys have not enough children, take Ismah! Hehe… Oo yaa… Congrats to the winning team, The Wallabies team represented by Preveen, Evy and Kak Syanaz. You guys beat 14 other teams. Hahaha… macho la! BEWARE! Next year ktorg rampas takhta…

Anyway, these are all the tasks that we have to do during the explorace:
1. Take pictures at Darling Harbour. All pictures must be taken from same angle as shown in the map.

2. Find PPMS’s crews at Hyde Park. We have to perform purposely to make Ain Omar laugh. As a present they prepare us delectable breakfast. It’s a choice between vegemite and wasabi. So wasabi? vegemite? Keputusan di tangan anda!
3. Find PPMS’s crews at My Café, QVB. Get a clue from them. Here we have to find the price of Nasi Lemak and 2 meats at Sydney’s Laksa Shack.
4. Answer 2 questions about Sydney Tower.

5. Find crews at Paddy’ s Market. The crews fool us by making us to imitate like monkey and duck to get the next clue. The clue requests us to locate 2 shops and get a giant calculator price and pretend as a customer at a wig shop and wear the wig.

6. In order to obtain extra points, we have to get some ‘extraordinary’ items such as 2 yellow leaves, a sample of perfume scent, a bottle cap, something red, signatures of PPMS’s committees, a name card, a chocolate wrapper, a tourist pamphlet, a drinking straw and a picture of the team members with a member from another team.

We were given 2 hours to complete all the tasks and it was extremely exhausted and I believe all the participants enjoyed the race and I could see all of them mmg semangat ‘LARI-LARI GAGAH BERANI!’

While the participants were so indulge in the race, the others had their own activities at the Centennial Park but this time tak main la game mafia, cranium or monopoly. Kite maen cara melayu la pulak….ahahha…They were having fun playing traditional game such as lompat getah, bola beracun, campak2 selipar, water balloons and anak ayam. Waaa… thanks to PPMS that made us reminiscing the good old days...

Last but not least…Congrats Persatuan Pelajar Melayu Sydney PPMS. This event was a success. Wajib buat as annual event kayh! I must say…sangat mantap…Food best, game best, explore race best, hadiah best??hahha…tu kite tanye the winners. Nadee, Odd, May and Kak Long thanks for the non-stop support…Haahaha.. And not to forget Moon who contributed her brilliant strategy to us and also Alan who was supposed to be in our team…Thanks for all your support!

the year that has passed

It was a year ago that this blog made its first appearance. Its main purpose was to update our family and closest friends on our life and being here and just that. Most of us are not really bloggers and we were almost sure that this blog would have been dead after a few months. But who would have thought. It managed to get to its first birthday and still standing strong (that is if it could stand. LAME, i know). We get a lot of supports mainly from our friends to keep on updating and really we appreciate all of that. Though it is now not as active as it before, we are trying hereee!!! Hehe. All in all, we just want to thank the readers for the support and encouragement. It means a lot.

And to the housemates,

A year of knowing and living with you guys has been the best highlight of my days in Sydney so far. Looking forward for another two years with all of you. Thank you for a great year!

The phrase 'it has been ages since we last update this blog' is just too cliche to even be mentioned here once again. But yeah, that's the real fact. Semua orang bahagia bercuti di Malaysia sampai lupa nak update! Tapi if we were to update pun, ada apalah sangat except that we are happy with our family and friends. Anyway, here's what has been happening lately.

Balik cepat sikit, cari rumah and jalan-jalan. and erm, Mardi Gras. Hahaha.

And oh, we'll be moving by the end of this week. No more 21. No more heated pool. And the beach will be even farther. Down nye. But not to worry, we'll exercise more and hence be even healthier. Miahahaha. Sepatutnya the blog shouldn't be naomi21 anymore. Tapi since we all sume 21 this year, we are just gonna stick to it! The number 21 means a lot to us. Chewah.

Uni will start next week. So to everyone, Selamat start Uni!

I was surprised because back then all of us belong to different sets of friends. Sorry the quality of the photos are not good because i have to recapture them since i dun hv a scanner. its started with moon n adil the very first to go back to home sweet home..freaking early 15 NOV!! some haven't even started their exams. nadee n i still have 2 more torture papers [marketing n biotech] and odd have her physics. it was hard for the three of us...u noe when u r used to 5 pple staying under one roof and now 2 had left..the house was definitely sunyi n we didn't have the mood to study. instead we baked cheese cake for nabila's bday and round2 before going back home from airport.we really MISS adil n moon...smpai gune their stuffs [ moon's sleepers, adil's comforter..etc]. demam adil n moon...hahhaa

Next to leave was nadee, huhu..another sad day. 2 beds beside me empty..we MISS u

Odd's sisters, NANA n JHA left yesterday..sunyi once again.im glad i had the chance to know them.i njoy their company..[mlm2 terjah each other..haha..kak ismah dgr la korg terjah dat nite b4 my marketing paper..]. eventho i only spend time with them for a while, i definitely MISS them.thank u for coming here..dtg la sini lg..bleh borong cardigans lg..hhaha

I know it's already more than a week overdue, but i'm posting it anyway.

The time has come when the youngest in the house turns twenty.

It's funny how she was expecting pranks on her big day, but we gave her a sweet celebration instead. Even funnier, although her birthday was celebrated in a clean way ( i mean, no eggs, no baling2 tepung) but still, we hv to do our dirty laundry that night.Each n everyone of us. Why eh?*wonder*

well actually, by dirty laundry, i mean, the cool new Desperate Housewives board game! it is called Dirty Laundry. Adil emerged as the most Desperate Housemates that night!!*clap2* We had a small family celebration over chocolate trifle and dirty secrets on the eve of her birthday.
On the weekend, another celebration took place. This time, the mastermind was Faeez.On that particular weekend, we had, not one, not two...but FOUR birthdays simultaneously.

PASAR MALAM taw! Bukan Indon night! It was successfully organized by MSO on the 26th of Oct. Congratz! We really2 had fun...It was such an exciting night to weave way around stalls, enjoyed the smell of local food and listened to the cool bands! The fun part were to watch hottie2 makcik(sheera, hawa and fini) screaming out to promote their rojak buah and to see bollywood actresses to-be (pinky, amrit and su yin) attracting people to sell off their cupcakes. And that’s not all. There were lots of food that you’ll be spoilt for choice. The best dish goes to Mee curry made by May, Jams and Kak Long. Not to forget the famous Abang Sam’s satay and fried chicken. Oh ya, Nadine’s pisang goreng with ice cream also sangat sedap. We were also fascinated by 'three’s a crowd' who entertained us with good selections of songs. Hmm..What’s more? OO ya…shisha! didn’t get the chance to try it! Hmm…maybe next time!

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri

Raya is definitely different this year, the surroundings, the place, the atmosphere, the culture, the people, the food and even the cards. Heck, no matter how different it is, the tradition is still the same. Salam-bersalaman, kunjung-mengunjung, maaf-memaafi. Oh, you know the drill.

But what is Raya if you don't celebrate it with everyone together, right? So, to keep the spirit of Raya alive, we welcomed everyone to join the feist at our house for a whole day long. And... Raya with NAOMI!

The Preparation

It took hours just to set up everything for the event. Its tiring but we were psyched. We never ever cooked that huge amount of food at one time. Since this is the first time we did an event like such, we don't really have all the equipments. We have to borrow them from great friends and generous seniors. Obviously, the word Thank You is not enough to repay the kindness of everyone. But know this, we are very very grateful, thankful and gratified. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank You very much.

The Food

Ah, the main attraction! It is an undeniable fact that Malaysians love food. Hands down. For long, we thought about the food that will suit everyone and can be cooked by the five us. And, we came up with this list of food: Soto, Nasi Impit, Kuah Kacang, Hot and Mild Rendang Daging (yup, two rendangs!), Nasi Lemak, Cupcakes and Kuih Raya. Some said that it is impossible for us to do all of these. So much food, so little time, and the five of us. But guess what, we made it! And with a short period of time, we hope everyone was satisfied and the food was ok. Was it? =s To the friends who never forget to help, again Thank You! Thank you Ustad, for the awesome Caramel and Rozane, for the splendid Kek Batik.

The Guests

They were the first to come and made us jumped to our excitement. It was long since the last time we met Kak Aan. Seeing her again was overwhelming. With Kak Aan was Rozane and Kak Dilot. Rozane brought Kek Batik and she made a whole lot for the guests to come. The five of us are a big fan of Rozane's Kek Batik and so we couldn't hold ourselves from having a slice or two of it.

The next in line are Kak Shu, Kak Ellin and Kak Acaq. Clad in their bright and colourful baju raya, their happy faces and smiles warm our hearts. With them, Azlin, Kak Maznah, Uji, Yaya, Afiqa, Kak Baiyah, and Kak Syu. Uji was obsessed with our kuihs, that she sat alone on the kitchen floor rummaging on our kuihs. As for others, they are big fans of Odd's cupcakes.

After a few minutes, the '3 dara pingitan' from Malaysia Hall arrived. 2 out of 3 wore pink baju kurungs while the other one... well, in jeans. But really, no matter how you dress, you guys datang pun dah memeriahkan majlis. We love you guys! The house is open to you guys bila-bila masa pun! Hugs and kisses to Ayu, Nabila and Arisha.

We were very very touched when we saw Sya, Fatt and Calvin at the door. They came all the way from Macquarie. We didn't have the chance to update each other during the first day of raya since everyone was busy helping out with the Rumah Terbuka.
Calvin was impressed that Ismah is so so small. He said he want to adopt her. Hmm?

And Fatt, the oranges are specially for you.

What's fun when there are no boys around? Haha. Ok, kidding! Haizie and the gang came after Sya, Fatt and Calvin. The boys from Kingsford; Haizie, Ustad, Gapo, Jiejie, Stuart, Syamil, Wong, Taufiq, Zul Aiman and Amirul Hafidz decided to have lunch at our house before taking a dip at Coogee Beach. They are good at cooking. So, we warned them not to say anything about the food. Hehe.

Later, came Fini, Hawa, Jaih and Zek. We just noticed that we didn't snap a picture of them with us. Sad! But they did leave their mark on our yearly planner and gave some 'meaningful' advices. And this blog has a lot of their pictures already. However, sorry to say, that our rumahtangga is still strong and hopefully last. There will always be the five of us and not from seven to four. Ha, you guys get what I mean. =p

When there is Taufiq, there will always be Masheera. And when there is Masheera, there is Fina. The girls from Sydney Uni that have always been our friends since back from those days in INTEC. Masheera and Fina, this time our begedils turned out just fine. Tak ada pecah-pecah and senang aja nak goreng. Not like last time. Huhu. And as they say, practice makes perfect.

The previous batch of boys went on their way to the beach and came another set of boys. This time it's Ameen, Wajdi, Amir, Aiman and Toye. We are so sorry that they have to go outside to have a smoke. It is a girls' house, what more can we do? And we are sorry for the plates for being too small. But seriously, we don't mind people tambah banyak-banyak kali and makan ulang-ulang. Seeing people enjoying their food is much more fun since we made them. =)

And later comes Mister 'Saya Hebat' Nik Arif. This busy-wusy guy came all the way from a previous event held by ... erm ... at the Harbour Bridge. He didn't came alone. He brought his new macho camera with him. What's best to test the new camera? Snap pictures, of course. By this time, Ameen dah tertido-tido. Kesian.

Anis and Izzati were here as well. Berbaju kurung! Hehe. One was eating sangat laju and one was taking her time menikmati makanan. Haha. Sama tapi tak serupa.

Anwar and Yamud came later. We were surprised and glad they came tapi still segan dengan diorang-diorang yang kerja kat Cafe Kasturi ni. Yelah, we all cook simple-simple aja unlike those special dishes kat Cafe Kasturi tu. And before they went back, sempat lagi posing for a few pictures. The Raudha Husain’s pose!

We managed to sit back and relax for about 15 minutes after that until that one knock on the door. I thought it was the girls from UniSyd, only to find out that there were 19 Malaysia Hall residents outside. The place went havoc for a while and we all pun havoc jugak siapkan makanan. Tapi seriously the best crowd ever! We never really got the chance to meet everyone from Malaysia Hall. So on that day, it was like a meet-and-greet session where everyone introduced themselves and told something about themselves. Of course, most of the fun came from the teasing and bullying part!

However, we have to say that most of the credits go to Alan and Faeez for lending some helping hands. We can’t really thank you guys enough for being such great co-host. Layan Puan Haslina and Puan Nora and their children and helping out in the kitchen. Memang cepat gile la bersihkan kitchen. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. And being such great guests, mereka diupgrade menjadi VIP dan mendapat caramel. LOL.

We love kids sangat! And when Puan Haslina and Puan Nora datang, we all can’t stop playing with Yasir, Yusuf, Yasmin and Hariz and everyone. Lari here and there, tengok-tengok swimming pool and main bunga api. Seriously fun! And what makes it more “memorizing” is that the compliments from Puan Haslina and Puan Nora. Weee~~

Well, to tell you the truth. It's not that cheap and to us it's not that expensive either. Two rooms and a bathroom, we managed! And a pool is just superb! We pay $500 per person per month. And there are five of us. So, you do the math.

Sambal was made by Ismah, Rendangs by Adil, Nasi Lemak and Nasi Impit by Nadee, Sambal Kuah Kacang by Moon and not to forget the famous Cupcakes by Odd. The stove is small so we have to share but yeah, it was alright. We had fun.

This is of course came from those who don't read our blog, haven't even heard of it or just plain lazy. Oops. =) Odd said, it is very easy, even for beginners! Don't trust her? Go here. Oh, and she demands some comments! Hehe. "Jadi ke tak? Sedap ke tak?" - that sort of comments. You get the idea.

Kenapa semua orang panggil korang NAOMI eh? Pastu, kenapa ada 21 dalam http://naomi21.blogspot.com/?
The name NAOMI came out of nowhere. It was during the early days when we were setting up for our wireless connection that we first realized that the first letter of each of our nicknames when combine, becomes NAOMI. ie. Nadee, Adil, Odd, Moon and Ismah = NAOMI. As for the number 21, it is our apartment unit's number, 21/8-10 Coogee Bay Road. Oh, and a brilliant friend came out with this, the sum of all our nicknames is equal to 21. Coincidence? Guess so. But it is smart! ie. 5+4+3+4+5=21

Eh, eh, daun pisang! Mana dapat daun pisang?
Yup, daun pisang! Even Puan Nora from MARA asked. We got the daun pisang from the Oriental in Randwick. It cost us a whooping $3 just to have a few leaves of daun pisang. Expensive. And yes it would be free if we were at home. Amik kat rumah orang sebelah je takpun kat belakang rumah.

Things that you don't know

1. Two of the most frequent topics that came up in a conversation are 'Malaysian Ghost Movies' and 'Our Beraya Trip to Puan Haslina's House'. Any idea wha came up with these topics? Here's a clue, O!

2. While preparing to cook, ada orang tu tengah memotong telur, sitting at the table and everyone else was busy doing their own thing. And so, while memotong, secara tiba-tiba, she fell off the chair and terduduk on the floor. Guess the floor was a bit slippery. Haha. The funny thing was she fell silently. Even the chair yang dah terbalik tu pun tak terbalik mengeluarkan bunyi.

3. Masa everyone tengah sibuk memasak dan menggoreng. Suddenly, semua orang baru perasan yang we all ran out of cooking oil and sugar. Off all the things that we were supposed to buy, we forget to buy the main ones. And so, have to run off to Coles in big shirt and loose pants to grab them. Luckily, didn't run into any familiar faces. =)

4. Heroes was on when we were 'gentel-ing' the begedils. You can't imagine how tired we were at time. But one of us was the most tired of all kot. She was on the sofa making some begedils. But after a few minutes, when our concentration was on the telly, she silently fell asleep while making begedils. LOL. Weird and funny, all at the same time.

5. Both sambals, sambal nasi lemak and sambal kuah kacang, was extremely super-duper hot. And I mean very very hot. After some alterations, the sambal nasi lemak was moderately hot and the sambal kuah kacang was still hot. Letak banyak-banyak sugar pun still taknak kurang pedas. Oklah tu.

If we can do it, so are you..yes you!Beginners, read on...
These are all the stufs u need:
For the cupcakes: (makes 25 baby cupcakes)

2	cups flour
1/2	teaspoon salt
2	teaspoons baking powder
1/2	cup butter, softened
3/4	cup sugar
2	eggs
1	cup milk
2	teaspoon vanilla essence/choc/strawberry flavour (optional,according to ur preference)

Here's how we do it:

preheat oven to 180 degrees; line patty cases.
cream butter and sugar till light and fluffy. beat in eggs one at a time.
add flour alternating with milk, beat well; stir in vanilla(or any flavour u like).
divide evenly among pans and bake for 15 minutes. let cool in pans.
U can also add in biscuits crumbs if u want.

For the frostings:

1	cup butter, softened
3	cups confectioners' sugar
1	teaspoon milk
1	teaspoon vanilla extract
2	teaspoon salt

In a bowl combine butter, sugar and salt. Beat till blended.
Add the milk and vanilla and beat for an additional 3 to 5 minutes or until smooth and creamy.
If u find creamy white too boring, why not put some colours?

U dun hv to stick to evtg's mentioned.Well,be creative!! add on biscuits crumbs if u like, sprinkle edible fairy glitters or choc rice, scribble anytg on top using jelly pen. U can get all baking accessories at ur nearest coles..Happy baking everyone!!

We can't thank Yani enough for recording and publishing this video. This is during one of the rehearsals. Since it is a rehearsal only, you have to pardon the small-small mistakes we've done throughout the whole dance. Hehe. Can't really concentrate when there are a whole lot of people around you.

But we are absolutely sure that on the night itself, we were alright. It'd be a waste of time if we didn't. And the whole 5 hours trainings from 7pm to 12am for almost 3 days are for sure worth it!

The much awaited event arrived sooner than we ever expected. We were having so much fun gearing up for MGM that we never really realized the actual event is now over. We had a blast preparing and performing. We enjoyed doing it. And we hope everyone else also feels the same.

Can't a post be any cheesier?

I'm sure u readers cn still remember the previous post where we did mentioned we lost in the baking competition..Well, we're lucky today that May-from the winning baking team is willing to show us how to do it the better way....
Now, hv u ever taste the cheesiest cake with a hint of biscuity crunch n rich sinful chocolate in the middle?n owh, not to forget, layered with creamy oreo biscuits..i repeat, OREO!!OMG,if u hv'nt, fret not, u can simply do it urself by following these simple steps below..I'm aware that some ppl avoid baking coz they're not good in operating the oven,well good news for u, u dun even need an oven to do this...u just need the fridge.(no kidding)..before that,run to ur nearest Coles to get these stufs ready :
-Philadelphia Cheese 150 g (3 boxes)
-Oreo biscuits (2 packets)
-Thick Cream
-Caster Sugar
-Brown sugar
-Digestive Biscuits
-Butter (unsalted)
-Cooking Chocolate
U dun hv to buy exactly the same things mentioned. Feel free to replace them according to ur own preference.For instance, mars instead of oreo. Mascarpone cheese instead of Philadelphia. Cadbury choc instead of cooking choc...well, u get the idea.
First:
Crushed the digestive biscuits into small bits.Mixed thoroughly with melted butter n caster sugar.Mixed well before dabbing them onto the pan as the base n frame. Put it in ur fridge for abt 20mins.

Learn from the best

Next, beat the cheese together with melted butter,thick cream n brown sugar using electronic mixer on low speed. Add in crushed oreo biscuits when the cheese has been mixed well.Beat again until the colour gets darker.Add in some caster sugar to sweeten the cheesy sensation.

Watch n learn *read with attitude*

When the batter is ready, spread them on top of the biscuit base (the one u put in the fridge just now). Spread evenly up to two fourth of the cake pan. Spread melted choc on top of this as the middle layer n cover them up with the cheese batter.N comes the most fun part..decorating!!! take the remaining oreo n decorate them ur way on top of the cake...n owh, dun waste ur choc, use it to decorate ur cake..u can even put caramel, cocoa powder or anytg edible..after all, u're the one who's gonna eat them rite?This is how we do it, ehem ehem...PRESENTING :

when it comes to food, who would wanna pass. right? besides, malaysian students and food are inseparable. INSEPARABLE. and yesterday, there was a 'get-together' held by the Kelab UMNO. it's called "Cake and Steak" which is their 'long awaited' annual event. (well, that is what they said in the email they sent)

we have to agree, the food was awesome. like always. only this time, it is a lil bit different. they have a baking competition. as the spirit and enthusiasim kicks in, Odd and Adil geared up for baking early (and i do mean EARLY) in the morning of the competition while others still curling up in their quilt. *am exaggerating. haha*

Rules for the Baking Competition: Has to be a cake (DUH) and has to be for group consumption(Can't be in miniature servings). Therefore, no brownies, no cupcakes, no tarts, no pies, no bars, no slices, no muffins...yea u get the gyst. Don't worry, there's still a lot to work with. Mudcakes, Tortes, Cheesecakes, Tiramisus... the possibilites are endless. Owh, pancake and mooncakes don't count either.Marks will be given by judges based on four important criteria:Presentation, Texture, Taste and Originality.

we weren't expecting that everyone will go all-out in this baking competition. so, we did ours as normal as we possibly could. other cakes were very well presented. you really have to give them credits for the time and energy spent baking. =p

well, this is our cake. normal kan? huhu.

but check out other cakes;

the great thing was, even guys bake. the strawberry chocolate cake as u can see above is made by a bunch of guys. coool!

and yeah. all of us stuffed ourselves with cakes. but, we never forget to pose for the camera even when we are eating. as for hawa here, i guess she was caught at a "bad" time. lol. still cute though. =)

now, where's a Dentyne when you need one? *sorry Hawa*

Sepanjang kitorg pergi brisbane, sume orang asyik nak compare sydney and brisbane. tak larat k. taula transportation kat sini mahal and yes... UQ cantik. tak ada saper deny. tapi... kalau asyik dengar benda yang sama ulang-ulang memang hmmm... =p bluek! (PEJA especially! =) ) hahaha. tapi since kitorang ni baik hati. kitorang cool aje. tak kisah pun. kitorang sedar realitinya. = walaupun begitu, kitorang tetap merasa bangga dan berpuas hati dengan trip kitorg ke brisbane. sememangnya tidak akan dilupakan. dan di sini, kitorg dah shortlisted kan bende-bende yang kitorg rasa sangat amazed dengan brisbane ;-) ini memang serious terpaku!

1. Dua lelaki Melayu berdansa sambil menyanyikan lagu Hindustan atau lebih tepat lagi 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' di tepi pantai di waktu senja. Ketika semua orang sibuk mahu pulang, sempat lagi mereke bercengkerama di bawah bulan purnama ye? Siap dengan selendang ala-ala hindustan ber'k-ching'-'k-ching' lagi (if kalau korang dengan betul-betul, boleh dengar!!). dengan gaya tarian yang erm.... (tak dapat nak di-describe kan), seriously, total gay-ness. hehehe. *jangan marah*

So, you guys decide. What's hot and what's not? =) Anyhow, Bribane still best. Met a lot of people, old friends, new friends, created a whole lot of fun memories and went sightseeing to numerous cool places. Thanks again to the Brisbanians.

but to us [ ismah, adil, nadee n zue] it was always rushing n running. frm the moment we stepped on the gold coast airport, we were trained to RUN...not juz plain running but running with heavy bags down the stairs..we arrived late at 1015..rush to find the cab..we were told that we only have a few minutes till the last train frm gold coast to brisbane city..

phew..we manage to get into the last train. those were da stuff we had to run with

still smiling. at least we r heading to the right direction..

REUNION

The friends we make in high school and college stay with us for the rest of our lives. We were so lucky to meet some of our friends during our trip to Melbourne especially the ausmatians. We hanged out, shared a few memories and experiences, retold some class jokes and not to forget gossiping! Together, we went to Winter Camp, skiing at Mount Buller, ‘balik kampong’ meeting atuk n d doctors at Clayton, posing2 at Fritzroy garden, cheering and competing our friends at the Masca tournament, joget2 at Malaysian night showing some skills, jalan2 at Phillip island, makan2 sampai boncit at Bismi, Lazat, Brunswick charcoal chicken, and many more. Those were the precious moments that we wont forget for the rest of our lives. We had such a wonderful time and thanks to all of our friends who made it happen.

..OMG,i love New Zealand!!
I've been planning the trip since easter n now it's over..*sad*
But i had fun..seriously..thanks to the friends (u know who u r),u guys perfected my holidays!!
Let's start from the very beginning.
It was drizzling when i arrived at Christchurch airport. Mawi,Anis,n Poon picked me up. Then we went to Mcau n Syieq's place. U'll never guess wut's behind the door..Oh,i'm so touched. I'll upload da video later.

The surprise post-bday party.

The supper was superb!Dats already a good start. I woke up the next morning to a gorgeous sunny day but it turned quite nippy in the afternoon.Syieq,mcau,jack,lennon,poon n i went to some shopping malls.. we had fish n chips for dinner.The day was mild,but special in its own way.
Da next day,poon,jack n i went jln2 around Lincoln Uni since mcau n syieq had a meeting with da Bersatu Games crew.

At night we watched transformers ramai2..(Actually i've lost tracked of the sequence, so those who were with me all da time,u might realized i've jumbled d activities haha..sorry eh!)

I dun think i deserve to comment on the movie coz i slept one fifth of da time.

Let's talk about Bersatu Games pulak. The opening night was interesting.We manage to gather most of the Ausmat 17 in a photo..yeay!(org pg MASCA ade ke gmbr cmni?*show off tone*)

To be frank,i din really follow the events so dun ask me the results of da game haha..The only game i watched was football (eh?i think so)..had fun meeting friends n cheering..dat explains y i hardly focus on da game.

Then it's time to leave for Wellington...I am happy to go,but sad to leave christchurch as well... :(

Throughout my journey from the airport to Viccentral, i look at the window n realized that houses in Wellington are distinctful, with their stark colour and Victorian character. Almost without exception, they are built with timber as Wellington is located directly over a major fault-line. Most houses here are built on hills.
That night we arrived at wellington, the boyfriend took me out to the harbour n proposed me again.On that magical moment onwards,i really do feel like i'm floating on cloud nine. We went pass Te Papa Museum jugak on that same night. I shud have taken a lot of photos la dat night.*sigh* The next day we took the train to takapu road and queensgate to do some window shopping. It rained heavily that evening,i have to dry myself up right after we found da mall.
What i love about wellington,(other than that one person who lived there currently :P) is the stufs i found along the street. The graffiti on the wall, the catchy adverts,n the statues.

Another part of wellington i loved most is the downtown side. Downtown Wellington is good for hanging out and shopping. It is comprised of 4 inter-connected precincts which are known as Courtney Place, Cuba Street, Willis Street, and Lambton Quay.Courtney Place tends to be the area for entertainment; restaurants, bars, and cinema while the rest are likely to be shopping area. Cuba street is comprised of 2 sections which are quite different from each others. At one end, the shops are “pop culture” style while the other end is more devoted to some “indie culture”. The nightlife in wellington is more happening than sydney (i think). Maybe thats because i always stay indoor after 6 in sydney haha..Willis street and Lambton Quay are also shopping areas, and located more down the business end of town. Stufs r much more expensive here compared to Christchurch n Sydney. The other highlight of Wellington is the Cable Car which will take you to a great lookout of Wellington City. The cable car is just one dollar for student...(n i still hv da receipt in my pocket..*sobsob*)..On another day which i cn't recall the sequence,we went to the uni.OMG,jalan pg Victoria Uni sgt curam..it's killing me..No wonder budak Vic semua slim2 *winks*There's one building at the uni which reminds me of the castles i read in fairy tales.They call it The Hunter Building if i'm not mistaken.

At night, the welly friends i know love to lepak at timezone. I cud see that the first years are more united compared to us.(no offence). They went places together, n lepak2 together..even tgk movie ramai2..*jellez*

On another night, the boyfriend took me to a candle-light dinner at a fantabulous indian restaurant. The biryani is the best i've tasted so far in my entire life.

The next morning,i woke up to find roses on my side table, together with mini doughnuts n fruits..(how cud i not love my winter holiday?)..The night after dat, we had lunch at Tekotahinga. The food was great!! I've been told, the house they live was built 100 years ago. The place is huge,reminds me of an old movie i grow up watching which i cn't remember the title. Thanks to the tekota girls for inviting us for lunch.

After that, we had tea at Ellin's place. Her apartment is cosy n huge as well. U cn see the uni from her balcony. Thanks to the McKenzie girls, da food is superb!

Then we met Fatin at Vicentral lobby..borak2 til late before i realized i hv to start packing.Although Wellington isn't such a famous destination for tourists, there are so many things to see and do. Jom Naomi,kte pg NZ next year tau!

Then it's time to go back to Sydney..*sobsob* n owh, parting really is such sweet sorrow. It was hard to say goodbye to Poon n Lennon who sent me off dis morning...n as i say good bye, i walk forward...but my heart steps backwards..n yes,one day, without a doubt i'll definitely come again..soon!

Hello everyone! It`s now the time for Naomi`s pay tribute to father`s day. Although it`s little bit late because fathers day was actually on the 17th JUNE and now is already 20th june. but believe me ,it`s never too late when it come to celebrate a very special day for a special someone. eemm to be specified it is the very important day for the very important men in our lives. Fathers day is about lifting up the relationship between a men and his children. its about remembering someone very special. So,here we want to grab the chance to wish a very happy father`s day to our beloved father and to all the fathers in the world!. Although we called our father with a different name as for nadee,she called her father ‘papa’, odd- ‘ayah’, adil -‘abah’, ismah-‘ayah’ and for me ,I called my father ‘abah’ too but we all have the same thing to say which is ‘thank you’. A very simple word but are very meaningful. Dads have left no stone unturned to express their unconditional love toward us...Now its our turn to express our love for our father.Thank you for the laughter and for the good times that we share,thank you for always listening and trying to be fair, thank you for your comfort when things are going bad, Thank you for the shoulder to cry on when I'm sad, thank you for working so hard to provide for our family, thank you for having such faith in me and always be there when I need you,thank you for all the sacrifices you made and most of all thank you for just being you. NASI KERABU sydney version

Ingredients: tumeric powder, lime leaves, salt,coconut,fish,sliced onions,sliced garlics, ginger half inch, 1 packet of santan, chilli powder/blend, cucumber, salad,keropok,sambal.

1. Wash rice. Add some tumeric powder, lime leaves and dash of salt. Cook in a rice cooker.

2. While rice is cooking, toast coconut over moderately low heat, stirring constantly until golden. Then, finely grind d toast coconut.

3. Next, rub some salt on the fish and grill over a low fire. When cooked, let it cool and then break into flakes then mix with the toast coconut.

4. How to cook kuah tumis??

5. Blend onion, kunyit 1 spoon, halia 1/2 inch then cook in heated oil.Add 1 packet of santan and 1 spoon of chili powder or chilli blend.

6. Serve the rice with the grilled fish, finely chopped cucumber slices and shredded salad(as ulam), sambal, budu(khas untuk pengemar2 budu sedunia) and keropok.

NASI BERIANI SARDIN

~A simple delicious meal for u guys to try...

Ingredients:Sardine,sliced onions, ginger, kulit kayu manis, chillies, peas,lemon juice, salt.

Cook sardine with slices of onion, ginger, kulit kayu manis, chillies, peas and season with lemon juice and salt.Mix sardin's gravy with washed rice and cook in a rice cooker.

~Done!!!yeayy....garnish with steamed carrots and fried onions!!!yummyyyyyy..

MEE HOON LAKNA

Ingredients : Fresh noodles~diced chicken~sliced onions~sliced garlics~chicken cube ~ oyster sauce~vegetables whatever u like...(carrot, celery and cauliflower)~cornflour mixed with water~oil for cooking

1. Boil the fresh noodles till soften.

2. Heat the oil and saute garlics, white pepper, black pepper, salt n sugar until fragrant.

3. Put in chickens and crushed in chicken cubes.

4. Then add in oyster sauce and water. Stir well and let it boil.

5. Add vegetables(cauliflower, carrot, celery)

6. Pour in the cornflour mixture to thicken the gravy.

~Garnish with chopped spring onions and fried onions.

...a great friend you are, we just want to wish you a very very happy birthday. oh yeah, not to forget, a great shopping partner as well (that is when it comes to sales and spending!). lol. the one who introdues us to all sorts of "cool" things (u know what i mean!). the one who always semangat2. always the first one to wake up every morning. the most frequent bath-er. the one who likes to bathe when it is COLD. a really really great cook when it comes to nasi goreng (n i'm not kidding!). the one who always tells us stories (remembering the dead sheeps???). the one who always goes back home when there's a break in between classes. the one with the famous quotes, "ei, tak remajalah" and "hey, orang gila". the one who always wonders around during lectures. the one with a "baby" named Sara. the one who always comes up nonsense2 things. the one who always sings the weird2 songs. the one who is very excited to go to Wellington, Christchurch etc this winter. the one who always locks herself in her own bedroom. the one who thinks this house is super-cosy. the one who used to sleep very2 early. the one who is addicted to blackpepper. and of course, the one we'll always love. =)

blue mountain trip

First of all..sorry guys for delaying this post. I had some complication with the pictures.

Anyways..after the hectic week 13 and studying hard [ yea we did..LOL] for babs n maths, we treat ourselves by going on a road trip to BLUE MOUNTAIN. It was adil's idea coz she wanna bwk her parents n hanim jln2. Since all of us havent been to the famous ever talked about "blue mountain", we might as well join the trip."the more the merrier". Kak An, kak ellin, kak maznah,ujie,rozane,anis n arisha joined the one day trip. We were very excited bout the trip..we started cooking the night before. . Eagerly, we woke up early n get ready for the trip.

Badminton Tournament

On a beautiful sunday of June 3rd,a badminton tournament was held at Sydney Aquatic Centre. Many organizations were involved namely Malaysia Hall Resident Club (MHRC),Persatuan Pelajar Melayu Sydney (PPMS),Malaysian Student Department (MSD) etc. We sent adil as our representative for PPMS.The event started at 10 sharp but we arrived at 10.10am. Cik Zi was sweet enuf,he called her every few minutes before she arrived.Adil was very gelabah since her game was among the earliest scheduled.She had'nt practised much dats y.

She grabbed the racket as soon as she arrived. We on the other hand,were busy 'usha'ing babies as usual.

..n of coz,we cheered to0..while we were busy cheering,Nadee was proposed to play for MSD. In a blink of an eye, her popularity soar among the uncles..haha..(Is'nt it such a great opportunity?)Discussing strategies to beat the young.

Playing her hearts out,showing us that cute is not always what she aimed for.

We then had a break at around 1pm. MSD belanja Pizza. The game starts again an hour after that.Owh,i think i missed smtg. On that day kan, we introduced May to Hanim as K.Elyana. It was'nt planned but somehow the thing turned out well. Hanim was excited,esp when she thought "K.Elyana" was in AF4. They were inseparable that afternoon.

From music to make ups,it is interesting to see that friendship can develop despite the difference in age and size.

Okay,back to the badminton thingy. The veterans were not bad i tell u. For your information, MSD emerged as the champion of the day although most of them are daddy2 org, some even dah jadi atuk orang!Now din ur mother tell u that the elderlys know best?

Pn Haslina showed us that age is just a number.

N owh,hv i told u yet that Tuan Haji Musa and Ustaz Zuhair were there too? I wish i had a picture of them.Not that i din try,but trust me,they were my hardest subject to capture...n i failed to get their photo ;(

seriously, i'm not kidding. agnes monica is in sydney! tak tipu! agnes monica jr. i mean. well, u guys remember Hanim from the previous post rite? She's totally a miniature version of Adil. as we see it, Like aunt like niece. u guys know, how adil is sooo into dancing, aerobics, and fitness and stuff. undoubtly, her niece is sooo into dancing and singing as well. and i tell u, she's the smallest (as in her age and size) but greatest fan of Akademi Fantasia 5. she tells all about Mila, Ebi, Heliza, Dafi, Kak Ogy and blah blah blah. even we, who are in Sydney pun dah tau about AF5 even we didnt see it at all. oh and be sure to catch her in AF18 cos i'm pretty sure she's gonna be one of the students. and she is pretty sure as well she's gonna be in it. don't say i didnt tell u soon enough. huhu.

the hectic-ness of Week 12... NOT!

hmm. i guess everyone has heard and might say that we are the "bajet" first-year students. making a big deal out of everything. from the 20 multiple choice questions, 45 mins chem test to the very short 5 mins presentation for FOOD 112o. like duh~ itu pun nak kecoh <--- ok, this. i made it up. huhu. but hey, we dont mind. at least we are making sure we make use of the opportunity JPA and MARA has given us (=p wek! yah rite). but the chem test does require us to study like hell. all about organic chem and its reactions. bosan, i know! and just to give a brief how everyone did on their presentation;

Ismah did her seminar on Nata De Coco. And guess wut? She get complimented by Julian. He said she did very well with her slides and the flow as well. and her famous quote was, "So, wut do you think about the "thing" I just gave you? Do you agree with me if i say its chewable, crunchable, tasty....?"

Miss Raudha Husain gave a talk on apples. she listed every single benefit of eating apples. and she's the only one had her talk recorded. well, dats because i managed to record her jer. yang lain tak sempat. sorry! we'll put up the video on youtube later. haha. and her famous quote was, "and I grew up knowing this... an apple a day keeps the doctor away!"

Cik Su kita plak (Adil), introduced us to the King and Queen of the tropical fruits. anyone has any idea wut the fruits are? the durian and the mangosteen la. haiya. she managed to make some of us laughed with her statement, "that's why some people said durian tastes like heaven but stinks like hell!" and not only that, she bribed julian by giving him a $1.30 mangosteen. elelele.

Kak Min did something on teas. she described every single type of tea. well, there are actually 4 types of tea jer pun in this world. the black, green, white and oolong tea. (correct ker?) and she gave us a tip on drinking tea, "make sure to have your tea without any milk because it can deteriorate the goodness of the tea." (i cant seem to remember the exact words she said. tapi lebih kurang camtu la! hehe)

as for me, i did on casu marzu or the maggot cheese. i put up a video on the maggot cheese and i can practically saw everyone's going all yucky. hahaha. it was a fun experience. not gonna elaborate more on mine. i find describing it rather weird (eih? =p). but i do wanna thank miss nurul naziha for helping me! sayang kamu sangat!

overall, the malaysians did very well. even the mat saleh complimented our work. huhu. bangga kejap. =) and we have no food science class next week. oh how i love wednesday now! hehe.

tapi kan... the best part of this week is adil's parents are in town along with her anak buah, Hanim. The NAOMIs haven't been cooking for a while now because everytime we get home, there are already food on the table. huhu. and whats more, the food is not the simple2 food yang we all slalu masak, its totally a full complete malaysian cuisine. even breakfast pun, everyday ada. the first day they were here, we had nasi lemak and keropok. muahahaha. the next day, we had sandwiches and nasi beriyani sardin. other than that, ada nasi tomato, kuzi, kari ikan and so much more to come. hahaha. jangan jeles. we are all having fun "merasa masakan ibu every single day!" how it feels like home! thank you uncle and auntie!

this is hanim. and this is when we were making a fool out of ourselves. isnt she cute? and yeah, we rock! =)

and yesterday, we went shopping for our winter clothes. moon and odd went to Homebush, ismah and i went to the city and adil and her family went to Featherdale and Paddy's. This is sorta like a revenge sebab we missed the Pirates of the Carribean the previous nite. haha. and yeah sorry for being berlagak skit to the gedik queens. (haha. and how was the movie?).

and now practically everyone is revising for next week Maths and BABS tests. BABS test memang merapu k! a 10 questions 15 mins test. dahla 10 multiple choice questions. freggin 10 QUESTIONS je tapi we need to revise semua benda! even the labs! haish. well, i'm off. and i've updated the blog. toodles~~

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful,
It is May again. May 13th is da day for all mothers in the world. It is da day to celebrate da most remarkable multi-purpose standing lady behind each n everyone of us. For a few short hours, families will dust off a rarely used pedestal and attempt to pay homage to a woman who likely will hop right back off that stand in order to straighten her husband's tie, apply a bandage to a skinned knee, help her child with schoolwork,pick up a mess, do the laundry, pay bills, drive here and there or do one of the countless other small tasks that keep a mother's hands in perpetual motion. It does'nt matter whether she is a business executive, an hourly labourer, or an unpaid stay-at-home mom – da best mothers invest da best of themselves in their families. They may spend many hours at work, but they still manage to make their children feel loved, to make each house a home, and to create and sustain the traditions and customs that make each family unique. They enforce discipline on homework and at bedtime when we were a stubborn child.They visit us during weekends when we were in boarding school and bring our favourite food. They pack our luggage before we fly out. Even when we're apart, the attention is never less...The late night calls everyday and the frequent text messages tell us that we're loved. They give us words of motivation and never ending prayers. They set high standards and higher expectations.They glory in our successes and console us in our defeats. Thank yous and gifts can never be enuff . Happy Mother's day!! May Allah bless all mothers in the world.

dear readers,

sorry for the long silence. as most of you wud know, this semester is gonna end soon. and we are pretty much caught up with all the assessments, assignments and revisions which is why we, the NAOMIs, are a lil bit late on updating this blog. but please, don't ever stop viewing. we do all of these things to share with you guys and not just to fulfil our thirst for gedikness (this is for the NAOMIs who wants to challenge the pure gedickness of the GEDIK QUEENS!). haha.

alrite, move on with the topic. last saturday (was it?), there was this bbq held by the Sydney UMNO (i guess) at the Centennial Park just behind Malaysia Hall. in the email, stated that it'd start at 11 but end up, at almost 12, we were the first people there. malaysians, always gonna be malaysians. and this goes to us too for arriving 1 hour late than the time stated. and still as malaysians yang penuh dengan sopan santun and budi bahasa, we helped a bit with the bbq-ing (since we are early kan). kesian la kan tengok the 3 guys jer bakar2. huhu. and later came the GEDIK QUEENS which makes the bbq a whole lot fun and also the malaysian students from all over sydney. however, we didnt stay there long because we had an another plan; pergi direct factory outlet (DFO) at Homebush. oh well, i'll let the pics do the talking. plus, i'm out of words (this is due to the freaking food science report. i hate!).

this is before the bbq. odd is too "rindu" at her kelisa back at home that any pic of her with a car will do. hehe. plus the car matched her outfit. too bad you guys cant see it here from this photo.

Over the last 3 months, all of us have been improving our cooking skill. We are now expert in cooking. Nadee is a pro in baking. Tell ya…She starts baking since she gets close to someone called…hmm (wondering who she / he is)hhaha… She indeed trained me as her protégé!!! (wat a fussy mentor… lesson no 1… “masak kena cantek2 taw!!) hahha… juz kidding la dee… She loves to cook pancakes and bakes brownies for us. Yesterday she cooked roti canai…siap maen campak2 lg!!wat a superb skill… hahaa… ade ciri2 jd mamak brjaya.

Day by day, odd is turning out to be an expert in cooking. She loves to cook tasty and spicy fried rice and also broccoli with eggs (her favourite menu) and not to forget… telor bistik Odd…we called this as recipe ‘semangat’ odd...(the story behind telor bistik semangat odd…) once upon a time, because of laziness and konon2 nak save money, we NAMI tot of having a simple dinner edisi Bersamamu which was nasi with bull eggs n kicap je…but there was this one gurl turned out to be our savior by cooking telor bistik with broccoli and meats were added in. Enthusiastically, she cooked for us. Our Bersamamu dinner were upgraded to be a dinner ala-ala Bersamamu yg brjaya dpt bantuan TV3… hahhaa... But it was extraordinary tasty telor bistik…pasni bole masak kat baby...ye laling!!! While Ismah…ahahh…dis petite girl looks like a professional chef when she is in the kitchen. She is an expert in dealing with fish. Ikan masak merah, masak kicap, sweet sour, masak sambal…macam2 la…you name it. She can cook for u.(haih..bangga encik amir afiq)..Moon pulakk…don’t play2 with her sambal…sambal ikan bilis, sambal kicap… sambal lada… all of them are tremendous super2 hot sambal…nice one!!!u guys have to try!! Moon I want sambal belacan and sambal tempoyak pulak…

For the last two weeks, our weekends were indulged with mouth-watering, exquisite Malaysian cuisines cooked by super chef, Kak anne. Thanx Kak Anne and kak shu…cayang kamu. Hehh..Their cooking are superb. Last week we cooked nasi ayam. Here is the recipe for nasi ayam.. if you guys windu2 mummy’s cooking.. try dis one…

Soup

1. Blend garlics, onions and ginger.

2. Boil the chickens together with the blended stuffs and also cube ayam.

3. Add in bunga lawang, bunga cengkih, kulit kayu manis and buah pala.

4. Simmer soup over a gentle heat until the chickens cook. Stir constantly...

5. Season with salt, sugar and daun saderi.

Rice
1. Cook the rice using the chicken soup and fried onions.

Ayam

1. Marinate the chickens with oyster source, kicap masin, white pepper, black pepper and also with ‘honey sayang’…(ryte ismah??)hahha

2. Grill the chickens. Total grilling time will depend on your grill and the heat(150°c)

3. In a bowl, mix the soup with sweet ketchup.

4. Pour the mixture onto the chickens.

5. Serve the chickens on the shredded salad.

Enjoyy it!!! Hope u guys like it and dun 4get to serve with tomatoes and cucumbers for en extra healthy adequate meal.

Actually,dis post supposed to be da first post but bcoz of there were so many exciting events happening around us dat we can`t help to share it with all da people out there, we forget bout dis important post. ok, here we go, we want to take u,(our friends and famillies) for a FREE tour at our home sweet home. OMG dis oppurtunity only comes once in a life time ppl!hehe. so,ape lagi grab it!

The flaws of the outside world

I may be impudent to say this,but the outside world is not as pretty as u think. To those of u who is still in Malaysia,please appreciate our country..and to those who is now outside,please be a good citizen wherever u are....by 'being a good citizen' i mean, dun u dare talk bad about that small country i call HOME. I met this one girl, she is as new as me, but she already planned to leave Malaysia, convert her nationality n never return. I just met her for a few minutes, but i cn't help looking at her with disgust. She complained about our education system. Our government. She felt sorry that i have to go back and serve the country. I told her, 'i'm looking forward, it's a pleasure to work for Malaysia' and she replied..'but they're gonna pay u dead cheap wages'...(GOD, this girl needs help!)..she loves everything about the Aussies, how they queue,the hospitality,the weather...everything..okay,i agree with her to a certain extent. The Aussies are yes...better than us in some ways......i look up to them until one day my house had dis huge problem with TELSTRA. We applied for house phone line and it took ages for us to cancel the old one and get another one. Fine with that. We then wait..very patiently for the calls they din pick up...for the untrained counter guy who keeps on giving us wrong information....but fine.We're new, we just gobbled all da flaws. One fine tuesday, the bill arrived. It turn out we have to pay for both phone line, even the one we din used. Ismah n Nadee called the operator n she dare said they din hv any record of us cancelling the other line so we must pay by hook or by crook.(Nadee swears she'd called to cancel n they took all her details n told her they're gonna process all the infos)..Dealing with TELSTRA was a nightmare. They cn't accept their inefficiencies n blame others instead. Can they like, allocate some money to train their workers..?We got different information from different booth we visit..it's funny how each n everyone of them can tell us shits while sounding so confident. Our Telekom is wayyy more efficient!Same goes to Commonwealth bank. Ismah's ATM card can't b use before she even used them so she has to apply for another and they cancel her 1st card. That took weeks.The 2nd card had problem with pins..pity her she had to withdraw her money at the counter everytime. Nadee also had a problem with the same bank regarding her home address. See, how cud ppl not see such flaws? Australia is not all about cheap Billabongs and Opera house..dun get me wrong, in some ways, they are good n we should learn from them. But please dun talk bad about MY COUNTRY. About that girl i told u earlier, ignore her.if i were to tell u more about her ,u're soo gonna bug me to tell her name. Somehow,i do think she shud convert her nationality..Who needs citizen like her anyway?
p/s: I would also like to thank my sponsor, JPA for gvg me the opportunity to study abroad..i'm a better citizen now, a better individual too! *blowing her own trumpet* I now know how to pay bills,manage my own money,use public transport,n most importantly COOK!

pelajar INTEC terlampau

...while we're busy doing our enzyme essay, one of us suddenly cn't take da pressure anymore so she influenced others to "'lagha" as well....she found dis clip n we all think they r kinda cute (the antics i mean)..so we formed a group, practising steps using old jiwang songs..it was fun.. we later on gave odd a surprise performance..sorry we cn't upload it up..she find us cute too!.. (cuter than da clip i pasted here)..well, enjoy dis one.....focus on their expression..i bet they were stressed like us that's why they came up with the whole thing..we r not related to them, we dun even know their names but we enjoyed their performance.....Happy watching! btw, these are actually INTEC students! notice tak its in the dewan makan in Cemara. i'm not kidding u! the tajuk pun Shape of my heart-deverians-intec. so those who are currently or who were in INTEC, kenal tak these people? hehehe
