tee-rah-mee-soo
I'm sure u'll agree with me that tiramisu is one of the
best cake u can eat on this planet. Literally translated tiramisu means "pick me up" or "carry me up", which probably refers to the
jolt you get after eating espresso and cream laced spongefingers.
I've always thought tiramisu was made in a special way and its very tideous. Boy, i was wrong. its totally EF (easy n fast) n its a heaven in your mouth.
Here's the simplified recipe:
Ingredients :
2 cups strong black coffee
1/2 cup *orange juice* to replace wine
3 0r 4 eggs, separated
1/3 cup caster sugar
250g mascarpone cheese
200 - 300ml thickened cream (lightly whipped it )
1 large packet of sponge fingers (savoiardi)
cocoa, for dusting
1) Beat eggyolks and caster sugar in a bowl with electric beaters until pale and thick. Add mascarpone and whipped thickened cream .mix it gently until just combined (don't use electric beaters). Refrigerate it
2) In another bowl, beat eggwhites with electric beaters until soft peaks form. Using a large
metal spoon, gently fold eggwhites into the mascarpone mixture.
3) Pour the black cofee and orange juice in a bowl. Dip the sponge biscuits *quickly so as to not
over-sog* into the coffee mixture. Then, place the biscuits to cover the base of a square baking pan. Cover the biscuits with one-third of the mascarpone mixture. Repeat layers 2-3
times (depending on how thick u want it), ending with the cream.
*For better result, refrigerate the 1st layer for while so that it is not too soft, before adding
the 2nd n 3rd layers*
4) That's it!! Just cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours. See..its easy, u
don't have to bake it. Lastly, dust generously with cocoa and its ready to be on ur mouth..
I made it yesterday for bukak puase. dgn xsabarnye after terawih trus mkn. i thought it did not work coz it was quite cair but the taste is perfect. i put it bck in the fridge. n walaa..today the cream has thickened n its definitely taste n look like tiramisu. So, its better to refrigerate it for a day..
Since its yummy n the rest of naomi+hani likes it, im gonna do it again this weekend. this time..more biscuits and keep it longer in the fridge
*If u prefer it to be cheesy, just use 200ml thickened cream and add a bit more cheese*
